Lego Star Wars has been one of Legos most popular selling themes and has recently celebrated its 20 year anniversary. In 2008 the theme expanding into producing sets based of Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated TV series, and was one of the themes that got me personally back into collecting Lego. Whilst the minifigures themselves where based on there animated appearance and often exaggerated features it did produce some excellent sets that you will see below.
So here is our top 10 Lego Star Wars: The Clone Wars sets:
10 - 75002 AT-RT - 222 Pieces - £19.99
Starting off the top 10 list we have set 75002 AT-RT. The set not only features a 501st inspired AT-RT but features one of the first 501st Legion Clone Troopers, but also comes with Yoda, A Super Commando Droid and a brick built sniper droid. Whilst the AT-RT build is out of scale compared to the minfigures but it is hard not to admit that this set just looks fantastic.
9 - 8018 AAT - 407 Pieces - £39.99
8 - 8039 Venator Class Republic Attack Cruiser - 1170 Pieces - £102.99
Set 8039 Venator Class Republic Attack Cruiser is the first and only version of the Republic Cruiser that we have gotten in Lego form. The set itself comes with 1170 pieces and contains 5 minifigures including Chancellor Palpatine, 2 x Senate Commandos, a Clone Gunner and a Clone Pilot. Whilst the shape of the vehicle might not be fully accurate being slightly slopped, but this is a stunning first version of the vehicle. The front hull of the ship can be lifted open revealing an interior build of the Chancellors office. The side panels can also be opened revealing a gunner station for the Clone Gunner and a handle that you can use to carrier the vehicle. Whilst this is a great Lego Clone Wars set we definitely need a remake of this set.
7 - 7964 Republic Frigate - 1015 Pieces - £102.99
Set 7964 Republic Frigate is an overall great model and contains 5 minfigures including Yoda, Eath Koth, Quinlin Vos, Commander Wollfe and a Wolfpack Trooper. This is one set I have been dying to get after missing out on it on its original release. The set has an opening cockpit and an escape pod that sits just under the cockpit of the set that can sit two minifigures. The two side areas of the hull can also be opened revealing a small interior on either side. The set has plenty of playability including moving blaster canons and four flick fire missiles.
6 - 75046 Coruscant Police Gunship - 481 Pieces - £49.99
At the number 6 on the list we have set 75046 Coruscant Police Gunship. The set itself comes with 4 minifigures including Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano and 2 x Coruscant Shock Troopers. The build is one of the more unique vehicles in the Star Wars universe and is overall a fantastic build which was suprising to me when I first saw pictures of the set, but it is without a doubt one of the strongest Lego Clone Wars sets. The set has an opening cockpit which can sit two minfigures, opening side bay,doors, spring loaded shooters, and storage areas allowing you to hold weapons and a surprise probe droid.
5 - 8014 Clone Walker Battle Pack - 72 Pieces - £9.99
Rounding out the top 5 we have set 8014 Clone Walker Battle Pack. Whilst this set is one of the smallest and cheapest sets in the Lego Clone Wars line of sets, but without a doubt is one of the best army building sets you can possible get. Battle packs are designed at a lower price cost to allow people to buy multiple sets to build their own army and in this sets case a Clone army. The set itslef features a small walker and 4 minifigures including 3x standard Clone Troopers and a Clone Gunner and an assortment of attachments to customise your own Clone Captains and Commanders.
4 - 8098 Clone Turbo Tank - 1141 Pieces - £102.99
Set 8098 Clone Turbo Tank is one of the best version of the vehicle we have currently seen from Lego. The set features 6 minfigures including Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano, Aayla Secura, Cad Bane and 2x Clone Troopers. The actual Clone Turbo Tank is a great build featuring a full suspension allowing you to move the vehicle over terran, two opening cockpits at either end of the vehicle, a cargo hold in the middle of the vehicle and storage area. The set also features one of the first minifigure scale AT-RT which still looks great in a much small but accurate scale.
3 - 7675 AT-TE Walker - 798 Pieces - £69.99
Rounding out the top 3 we have set 7675 AT-TE. This without a doubt is one of the best version of the AT-TE to date just missing out on the top spot compared to the AT-TE from 2013. The set itself comes with 6 minfigures including Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano, Captain Rex, a Clone Trooper, a B1 Battle Droid and Rota the Hutt. The build itself is great and included many play features featuring an opening cockpit, two open hull sections to allow you to place your minifigures inside the AT-TE, movable lets, six movable blaster canons and a top movable heavy canon which can seat one minfigure. The set also comes with a side build of a blue STAP which the Battle Droid can ride into battle.
2 - 7676 Republic Gunship - 1034 Pieces - £84.99
Just missing out on the top spot is set 7676 Republic Gunship. Just like the AT-TE the Republic Gunship is one of the best version of the model so far and is the only model to feature duel armoured door bay allowing you to close the holding bay completely. The set comes with five minifigures including Obi-Wan-Kenobi, Asajj Ventress, Plo Koon, Commander Cody and a Clone Trooper. The build is great and features two opening cockpits, two opening turrets (one either side of the wings) and opening transport bay, a control centre in the front of the gunship, a speeder bike and a BACTA tank in the middle of the gunship.
1 - 10195 Republic Dropship with AT-OT Walker - 1758 Pieces - £183.99
Set 10195 Republic Dropship with AT-OT Walker is without a doubt the best Lego Star Wars The Clone Wars sets and is also one of best Lego Star Wars sets in general. With this set you are not just getting one vehicle but two and whilst the price is high it is totally worth it. The Republic Dropship looks great which all the detailing and has the ability to pick up the AT-OT using Technic pieces. The second build is the AT-OT which also looks great featuring eight movable legs, movable turrets, an opening cockpit and an open back allowing you to transport all your Clone Troopers. What makes this set even better is the minifigures. The set itself comes with 2 x Clone Pilots and 6 x Clone Troopers boosting up those Lego Clone Armies.
