Lego Star Wars 75269 Duel on Mustafar Review

Lego Star Wars Set 75269 Duel on Mustafar is the latest in a line of sets based on famous lightsaber duels from the Star Wars universe, with set based on the Anakin Skywalker vs Obi-Wan-Kenobi duel from Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith.

The set contains 208 pieces and retails for £!9.99 and contains two minifigures including Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan-Kenobi and features a small Mustafar building over a river of lava.

Minifigures:

Anakin Skywalker:

The first minifigure is of course Anakin Skywalker. The minifigure overall features excellent printing all over showing his Jedi robes with burn marks from the lave and ash from the battle on Mustafar. The minifigure comes with two face prints with one being calm, but I much prefer this angry expression with those Sith eyes making the minfigure much more menacing showing Anakins fall to the dark side. The minfigure of course comes with his blue lightsaber as well.

Obi-Wan-Kenobi:

The next minfigure is Obi-Wan-Kenobi. The minfigure just like Anakin has fantastic overall detailing on his torso and leg print showing of his Jedi robes. The torso also has burn marks showing the envrioment that the duel is taking place on. The minfigure does come with two facial expressions with one being calmer, ther other a slightly more stern face that compliemts that sequence in the film. The minfiugre also comes with a single blue bladed lightsaber.

Duel on Mustafar:

The actual build itself captures two scenes from the actual duel seen in Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith. The first being the duel on a platform and a droid over the river of lava and the second being the duel on the collapsing strucutre which is positioned towards the back of the build, with a small lava build dripping down some rocks.

Whilst the build isn't overall compliacted it really does capture the environment of Mustafar really well, including lots of red, orange and yellow pieces to capture the buring environemtn of Mustafar set against the charred rocks.

The collapsing structure is also a nice little build with two ski pieces, one in black and other being in trans orange showing the lava melting the metal structure. The actual build is just wide enough to place both characters on to recreate the scene where the two characters are dueling on, there are a couple of trans organe lave peices as well lying on the structure showing the lave being chucked up onto the strucutre.

The set can also be folded out to make a longer but thinner display pace where you can show off the battle between Anakin and Obi-Wan-Kenobi. Whilst the set does look nice from this view the bottom base bricks do looks a bit more blocky and less detailed then displayed when the set if fully closed but this option allows you to fully move the platforms around to allow you to take control of the duel.

The first platform contains a small build of one of the mining droids on Mustafar. This is a nice overall build and really captures the look of the droid seen in the film. The purple eyes and the arms are a nice addition to capture the look of the droid, and the ice skate pieces really add some detail for such a small addition to the build. The droid can be moved by a black piece at the back of the droid allowing to slide the droid along the set.

The second platform is far less interesting with just a 4x4 plate used as the platform with grill plates used to add detail to the overall platform design. Just like the mining droid there is a black piece at the back of the platform which allows you to slide the platform to and from the mining droid allowing you to control the battle.

The last play feature is a features a couple of trans orange studs acting as lava. If you push in the black grill plate on top of the red and orange palates you can fire the lava pieces into the battle. Whilst this is a rather simple play feature it does add a lot to the set and allows you to recreate the volcanic exploding atmosphere of Mustafar.

Verdict:

Overall this is a great little set that really captures not just the environment of Mustafar but also captures the duel between Anakin and Obi-Wan-Kenobi really well. Whilst this is small et overall but it is a fun build and will make a great addition in anyone's Lego Star Wars collection.
