Lego Ninjago 2021 Ninjago City Gardens First Look

Thanks to Brickset and a Canadian Lego catalog we now have our first look at the Lego Ninjago 2022 Ninjago City Gardens.

The set itself contains 5686 pieces and will retail for $399.99, but please remember that is in Canadian dollars so will vary slightly based on regions.

The set will be released on January 14th for VIP and globally on the 1st February 2021.

This is a fantastic looking set overall with a ton of minifigures but a very high price point.

An image of the minifigures included can be found below.

Lego Marvel Superheroes SDCC 77905 Taskmaster's Ambush Review

Set Name: Taskmaster's Ambush
Set Number: 77905
Pieces: 230
Price: $39.99 (Limited release)
Minifigures: 3 - Black Widow, Red Guardian, Taskmaster

Just like the SDCC Nebulon B Frigate, SDCC Wonder Woman set and Star Wars Celebration Bespin Duel, Lego released a SDCC set for Lego Marvel Superheroes for limited release for the US due to the cancellation of SDCC in 2020 due to the pandemic. The overall set contains 2 exclusive minifigures including Black Widow and Red Guardian, a small off road jeep style build and a nice display terrain build.

Minifigures:

Black Widow:

The first exclusive minifigure in the set is Black Widow in her white stealth suit based on the new Black Widow film which is hoping to release in May 2021 after being delayed. The minifigure features the same head and hair piece as normal Black Widow minifigures, but has an exclusive torso and leg print showing a highly detailed suit with belt details and additional straps for weapons. Compared to the usual Black Widow in her black suit this is certainly a unique variation.

Red Guardian:

The next exclusive minifigure is the Red Guardian, fans were hoping that this minifigure would appear in the Black Widow tie in set released earlier on in the year but unfortunately that didn't happen but Lego decided to put this must have minifigure in an exclusive SDCC set that you would only get in the US or at a higher price point on the secondary hand market for the rest of us.

Now the actual minifigure looks great with a highly detailed torso design and an excellent face and hair piece which closely match the character's appearance from the Black Widow film. The minifigure unfortunately does not have any leg print which would have been nice. The minifigure comes with the characters shield but uses a sticker instead of a printed shield.

Taskmaster:

The last minifigure in the set is Taskmaster. The minifigure is the exact same version seen in the Black Widow set released earlier in the year, but doesn't come with his hood piece so could be technically a new variant. The minifigure contains a highly detailed torso and head piece which look great and comes with a new sword piece (seen in the Lego City Jungle theme) and a sticker print for his shield, which both accessories are a huge improvement over what we got in the original set.

Taskmaster's Ambush:

The actual set itself features a six wheeled off road Jeep style vehicle on a rockery terrain display stand. Whilst this set isn't the most impressive to look at compared to the Lego Star Wars Bespin Duel or Nebulon B Frigate, but it makes for a nice little action scene for display.

The actual vehicle itself is a nice little build with some nice brick build detailing alongside stickers. The open top structure allows you to place Taskmaster into the vehicle and a cargo storage area including a crate.

The front of the vehicle has some nice detailing including head lights and wing mirrors using the paint roller pieces but does use two big stickers on the front for added detailing and whilst it is a big sticker on the front it includes a nice Taskmaster logo.

The back of the vehicle includes a nice storage area and includes additional accessories including a petrol storage can, a bow and arrow for Tastmaster and an antenna which is all a nice addition.

The main play feature and function of the vehicle itself is the wheels including a simple brick built suspension allowing you to pose the wheels which looks great especially on display with the display stand as it includes a little rock build to allow you to showcase the suspension working, this uses a small Technic pin that pushes up against the rocks allowing you to showcase the vehicle moving over the terrain.

The storage container at the back of the vehicle is filled with accessories including a suitcase, a mobile phone, and two trans pink contains which probably have some relevance to the Black Widow film but we will have to wait and see what they turn out to be.

The set also comes with a display stand which also acts as terrain which looks great overall. There is some great techniques using slopes to capture the terrain in terms of height and overall shape. There is also little bits of trans orange tiles in two of the corners adding either some fire or lava detailing which is a nice colour contrast. The display stand features two stands one action pose seen in the CMF minifigures and a larger stand to help pose your minifigures.

Verdict:

Overall this set is a great little display piece with some great exclusive minifigures. The build itself is not as interesting compared to the Bespin Duel of Nebulon B Frigate but it acts as a nice action centered display piece. If you can get your hands on this set, then it is certainly worth it, I just wish Lego had released this globally rather than just a US exclusive so more people could have the chance to get the set.

Lego BrickHeadz 150th Theme Winner Announced

Thanks to The Brick Fan we now have the result of the Lego BrickHeadz 150th theme competition.

For those who were unaware Lego ran a competition to vote for the theme of a BrickHeadz that will become the 150th BrickHeadz.

The themes up for the vote was Minecraft, Star Wars, Lilo & Stitch and Jaws.

and the winner is....

Star Wars

Whilst this was hardly surprising  it would of been nice to get a more exclusive BrickHeadz from a licensing property such as Lilo & Stitch (could be a nice duel pack) or even Jaws.

There is no current information on what the Star Wars BrickHeadz will be but lets hope its a new character rather than an updated version of a previous Lego Star Wars BrickHeadz.

What do you think of the Lego BrickHeadz results? let us know in the comments below.
