Lego Marvel 76144 Hulk Helicopter Rescue Review

Our latest review on Lego Marvel set 76144 Hulk Helicopter Rescue. The set features 482 piece and retails for £54.99, and contains four minifigures including Black Widow, Rescue and 2x Chitauri and also contains one bigfig being Hulk. This set is the first opportunity to get Rescue and Hulk in his time heist suit and also the printed Stark gauntlet as well.

Minifigures:

Rescue:

Rescue aka Pepper Potts is only the second version of the character that we have gotten in Lego form, the first being in the Malibu Mansion set that came in conjunction with the release of Iron Man 3, but this version features Pepper Potts in her Rescue suit armour from Avengers: Endgame. Overall this minifigure is fantastic and is extremely well detailed, featuring highly detailed torso and leg print. The helmet mould is the same as the invincible Iron Man helmet and closely matches the suit seen in the film perfectly.

The minifigure also comes with some accessories including two power blast accessories and what appears to be extra boosters to the suit, which is conencted with a neck bracket to the minifgure, even though this stands out it is a really nice addition to the minifugre

The minifigure also comes with an additional hair piece, which can be added to the minifugre by removing the helmet piece. Whilst it doesn't match Peppers appearance from Avengers: Endgame it is still nice to include a hair piece.

Hulk:

Hulk or in the case of Avengers: Endgame Professor Hulk is the last in the line of Avengers in there quantaum suits that we needed to complete the collection and overall Hulk looks good as is the most unqiue Hulk big fig we have got so far. The suit is exactly the same as the other Avengers minifigure but of course at a much larger scale.

The set also comes with the Stark Gauntlet with four Infinity Stones (we will have a more detailed look at later) which can be fitted onto the Hulk big fig by removing his hand piece and looks really good whilst on the minifgure, recreating that famous return snap scene from Avengers: Endgame.

Black Widow:

The next minifigure is Black Widow. Now this is the exact same version that came with the Avengers Quinjet but with only one difference now we have brick built battons which is honestly the best version of the battons that we have gotten so far compared to the lightsaber blades we are used to getting. Apart from those the minifugre is unchanged sporting the exact same torso and leg print all the Avengers minifugres have.

Chitauri:

The final two minifigures are two Chitauri minifigures. These minifugres are the exact same version that appear in the Avengers Quinjet that was released in the initail wave of sets for Avengers: Endgame. Overall the minifugres are well designed and are a big improvment from the 2012 versions.

Avengers Helicopter:

Now the Avengers Helicopter just like the majority of the sets based on Avengers: Endgame didn't actually appear in the film or resembles any vehicle from the MCU, which gives Lego the license to make something fun. Does it succed? not exactly but its a nice overall build with some lovely trans orange propeller blades and cockpit piece. The helicopter has two movabel wings which has the new stud shooter piece on the tip of the wings which is a nice play feature.

The cockpit can be opened revealing a small place to fit a single minfigure, the cockpit doesn't exactly fit the space perfectly so leaves a considerable gap either side of the cockpit.

The main play feature is at the back of the vehicle with the vehicles drop function. You can place the Hulk under the helicopter by using plates attached to the Hulks feet. Once Hulk is in place, if you push down on the orange button at the top of helicopter it pushes a pin which then pushes Hulk out of the helicopter creating the drop feature.

Chitauri Speeder:

The first side build is a Chitauri speeder which of course was seen in the first Avengers movie and in Avengers: Endgame. This is the second version of the vehicle we have seen in Lego form, but this one is a more scale down version, but is much more accurately scaled. The vehicle itself features two stickers for detailing, two stud shooters on the side of the vehicle for play feature and an excellent detailed blaster piece on the front of the vehicle. The speeder also has space for one minifigure.

Chitauri Leviathan:

The next mini build is the Chitauri Leviathan. Whilst in the MCU these are huge but this version of the Leviathan is a much more scaled down version. Whilst I would still prefer a giant version of the creature this version of Lego is certainly fun. The Leviathan build has a ball jointed tail allowing for a range of movement, two wings that are movable as well, and an opening mouth so you can try and recreated the scene from the first Avengers movie with Iron Man taken down the Leviathan from the inside. On top of the Leviathan there is space for a single minifigure.

Stark Gauntlet:

One of the most sort after pieces in this set is the Stark Gauntlet. This is a vast improvement over the Infinity Gauntlet used by Thanos, not only is it in the red colour but actually features printing on the gauntlet itself (yes no stickers!) The gauntlet comes with four of the six Infinity Stones the other two come with the Avengers Compound Battle set.

Verdict:

Overall Lego Marvel set 76144 Hulk Helicopter Rescue is an average set at best with some desirable minfigures being Hulk and Rescue. The Helicopter build is fun but doesn't resemble anything from the films, but the side builds boost the set up and add value to the set, definitely wait on a sale on this set.
