Top 10 Lego Star Wars Sets

Happy May 4th and to all you Star Wars fans out there may the 4th be with you. How can you have Star Wars day without a top 10 Lego Star Wars sets? well you can't.

The Lego Star Wars theme has been one of the biggest and most popular theme since it first was released over 20 years ago and has been a personal favourite theme of mine with the majority of my Lego collection being from the Lego Star Wars theme.

Now this list does not include any Star Wars UCS sets, Clone Wars or Rebels TV series sets. Those sets have already been covered in previous top 10 posts.

So here it is our top 10 Lego Star Wars sets from the last 20 years.

10 - 8088 ARC 170 Starfighter - 396 Pieces - £49.99

Starting of the top 10 list we have the new and improved ARC 170 Starfighter based on its appearance from Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith. The set design is overall improved from its original release back in 2005. The set comes 4 minifigures including Kit FIsto, Captain Jag, a Clone Pilot and R4-P44. The set itself features three opening cockpits, opening s foils and flick fire missile which are located under the ship.

9 - 7662 Trade Federation MTT - 1330 Pieces - £79.99

Set 7662 MTT is without a doubt the best version of the MTT that we have gotten in Lego form so far. The set itself is also the largest iteration with multiple opening panels and an full cockpit at the top of the MTT. The set comes with a Battle Droid Pilot, 2 x Security Battle Droids, a single Droidika and multiple Battle Droids making this the perfect set if you want to build up your Droid army.

8 -75055 Imperial Star  Destroyer - 1359 Pieces - £119.99

At number 8 on the list we have set 75055 Imperial Star Destroyer, this is without a doubt the best Star Destroyer we have gotten in regular system form, of course the UCS Imperial Star Destroyer is another league compared to this set, but as this list does not include UCS sets then this is the best Star Destroyer set we have gotten. The set is fairly well detailed with engine and hull detailing and comes with a full interior as well which can be accessed by opening the two side sections of the hull of the ship apart. The set comes with 6 minifigures including Darth Vader, an Imperial Crew Member, an Imperial Officer, an Imperial Navy Trooper and 2 x Stormtroopers and of course a brick built Mouse Droid.

7 - 75257 Millennium Falcon - 1351 Pieces - £149.99

Set 75257 Millennium Falcon is the latest in what seems to be a long line in remakes based on the famous vehicle. Whilst the 4504 Millennium Falcon introduced us to the new design based vehicle and must more accurate overall design way back in 2004, but this design based on Star Wars Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker is the most screen accurate version to date and most importantly fixes the gapping problem in the plates used to create the hull of the ship. The panels can still be fully opened reviling a full interior and coms with 7 minifigures including Lando, Finn, Chewbacca, R2-D2, D-0, C-3PO and Boolio.

6 - 75211 Imperial TIE Fighter - 519 Pieces - £64.99

Just missing out on a spot in the top 5 we have set 75211 Imperial TIE Fighter. This TIE Fighter is the best and most screen accurate TIE Fighter that we have gotten so far and is much more sleek in its overall design. This TIE Fighter was released in conjunction with Solo: A Star Wars Story and comes with four minifigures including Han Solo, Tobias Beckett, Mimban Stormtrooper and an Imperial TIE Fighter Pilot. The set features an opening cockpit and two spring loaded shooters which can be found at the bottom off the cockpit.

5 - 75218 X-Wing Starfighter - 731 Pieces - £89.99

Rounding out the top 5 we have set 75218 X-Wing Starfighter. This was my first original trilogy X-Wing so holds a special place in my Lego  Star Wars collection but this X-Wing is without a doubt the best version of the X-Wing so far and just like the TIE Fighter it is the sleekest version of the vehicle so far. The set comes with opening wings which can be opened and closed using a new mechanism at the rear of the vehicle, an opening cockpit and four spring loaded shooters which can be found on each wing of the X-Wing. The set comes with four minifigures including Luke Skywalker, R2-D2, Biggs Darklighter and R2-Q2.

4 - 75094 Imperial Shuttle Tydiruim - 937 Pieces - £79.99

At number 4 on the list we have set 75094 Imperial Shuttle Tydiruim. In the Lego Star Wars community this set is basically called a mini scale version of the UCS Imperial Shuttle which is one of the best UCS sets in our opinion. The set itself features an opening cockpit with similar designs to the UCS model, opening wings, foldable landing gear and a small interior which can fit four minfigures. The set itself comes with 5 minifigures including Han Solo, Princess Leia, Chewbacca and 2 x Rebel Troopers.

3 - 75054 AT-AT - 1137 Pieces - £109.99

Rounding out the top 3 in our top 10 Lego Star Wars sets we have set 75054 AT-AT. Just like many vehicles from the Original Trilogy we have had multiple versions of the AT-AT, even a motorised one as well, but in our opinion set 75054 AT-AT is the best version of the vehicle so far. We are getting a new AT-AT in 2020 (which we have already covered) and it will be interesting to see whether or not the new 2020 version will beat this version of the AT-AT and will make a fun comparison post in the future. The vehicle itself features fully movable legs to allow you to pose the vehicle. an opening cockpit and an opening armoured hull allowing you to store your Snowtroopers. The set comes with 5 minifigures including General Veers, an AT-AT Driver and 3 x Snowtroopers.

2 - 75019 AT-TE - 794 Pieces - £79.99

Just missing out on the number 1 spot is set 75019 AT-TE. The AT-TE is one of my favourite vehicles in the Star Wars universe and was one vehicle that when growing up always wanted. I finally got my hands on the 2013 AT-TE and it is one set that has always stayed with me. The set features an opening cockpit, a fully detailed armoured hull, six movable canons, six movable legs and a small interior and storage area inside the vehicle. The set comes with 5 minifigures including Mace Windu, Coleman Trebo, a Clone Commander, a Battle Droid Commander and a regular Battle Droid.

1 - 75021 Republic Gunship - 1175 Pieces - £109.99

At number 1 on the list and our top Lego Star Wars set is set 75021 Republic Gunship from 2013. The set itself is a highly detailed interpretation of the vehicle and features two opening cockpits, two movable bubble turrets, two wing turrets, flick fire missiles a large cargo bay with movable doors and three movable gun turrets. The set also comes with 7 minifigures including Obi-Wan-Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Padma, a Clone Pilot, a Clone Sargent and 2 x Super Battle Droids. We are getting a UCS Republic Gunship soon so it will be interesting comparing both this set and the UCS set together. Honestly I wouldn't mind a larger version of this set to be honest.
