BRIKSMAX Avengers Tower Battle LED Light Kit Review

Today we are taking a look at the BRIKSMAX LED Light kit for the Lego Marvel Superheroes Avengers Tower Battle set.

But before we start we need to mention a special thank you to Lightailing for sending us a review copy of the LED light kit for us to review. The opinions expressed in this review are our own and are not endorsed by the company itself.

I have wanted to add LED light kits to the collection and see what they can bring to the overall display experience of Lego sets, so jumped at the opportunity to review the below product. The product itself is a light kit for the new Avengers Tower Battle set and in our review we will take a look at the overall product as a whole, its effectiveness as a light kits and the ease of adding it to the existing set.

The product itself retails for £26.00 / $34.99 and can be purchased HERE

Box Contents:

The box itself consists of an instruction manel of how to fit the light kit into the actual set itself and for this particular set comes with 13 sealed bags consisting of a range of LEDs, Lego pieces, LED boards, a battery pack and a pack including a USB cable allowing you plug the light kit into any USB port, which is a nice addition to a battery pack. (Individual packs can be seen below).

Construction:

Having never purchased a light kit before I was pleasantly surprised to find a picture style instruction book clearly showing a step by step guide to implanting the light kit into the build itself. The instruction book shows which sections of the build need to be dismantled slightly (or taken away from the main build itself) and how to wire in and set up the lights as well and as a beginner in terms of light kits this was much appreciated.

Adding the light kit:

Adding the light kits to your set will differ depending on which set you are buying the light kit for, but in terms of this review for the Avengers Tower Battle set the majority of the floors of the actual tower itself had to be removed, some of course as much easier than others but it all helps out in the grand scheme of things when adding the lights themselves.

The majority of the lights in the set only use three different items, with there being a LED board, a cable to connect to the battery pack and a Lego plate that the LED board is stuck to. The cables themselves are threaded in between the studs and plates on the set with the remaining cable running down the back of the tower to the battery pack.

(The cables themselves can be tidied up by wrapping them around the LED board if you would like a more clean look to the finished product)

There are two different battery sources included, the first being a standard battery pack (taking 3xAA batteries) and the second being a USB cable that can be connected into your laptop or devices.

Putting the LED strips into the actual build is fairly straightforward but the wiring can get extremely fiddly especially when connecting the main LED board with the battery pack, but the end result is worth it.

Final product:

I have to admit the final product looks fantastic and really elevates the overall look and design of the Avengers Tower itself especially with the lights reflecting of the trans blue window pieces. With the wires themselves being hidden well with the actual build of the set it makes the lighting feel more organic and natural with well placed positioning to highlight key aspects of the tower itself and the different rooms included.

The images below are from different angles of the Avengers Tower with the lights added to the set.

Verdict:

Overall the BRIKSMAX lighting kit is certainly impressive whilst installed into the Lego Avengers Tower Battle set and is extremely effective considering the trans blue pieces used within the set which is perfect for the lighting kit.

Whilst the actual end product looks great beginners who are new to lighting kits might struggle with how fiddly the actual kits can be but the step by step picture instruction book does help beginners (like me) through the installation process which is a huge advantage.

In terms of price which seems reasonable for the amount of product you get and the end results which are fantastic.

The overall end result is a great lighting kit which does what it is meant to do and enhances the Lego build itself and I certainly would be interested into getting more lighting kits to add to the collection.

As I stated earlier in the review a special thank you to Lightaling for sending the product over for review. You can view the wide range of products that are available HERE.
