Lego Star Wars Darth Maul Minifigure Review

One of the most appealing aspects of DK Lego books is often the exclusive Lego minifigure that accompanies the book itself. Whilst the books themselves offer an excellent insight into Lego themes in this case Lego Star Wars minfigures, for collectors it is the minifigure that attracts them to get the book in the first place.

This exclusive Darth Maul minifigure comes with the DK Lego  Star Wars Character Encyclopaedia New Edition.

Darth Maul:

Darth Maul has certainly become a high profile Star Wars character over the years, with the character being brought back from the dead in Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated TV series, bringing some much needed depth to the character, to appearing in Star Wars: Rebels animated series and making a small but impressive cameo in Solo: A Star Wars Story. These new stories with Darth Maul have honestly made him one of the most interesting and developed characters in the Star Wars Franchise.

This minifigure is based on his appearance from Solo: A Star Wars Story. The figure itself features an excellent facial print and horn head piece capturing the look of the previous Sith lord perfectly. The torso is also highly detailed showing the robes of the Sith lord, his tattooed chest and the medallion, the logo of Crimson Dawn, who Maul is secretly in charge of. What is most impressive is the legs of the minifigure. We all know Darth Maul lost his legs in a fight with Obi-Wan-Kenobi but this minfigure perfectly captures his appearance with gun metal grey metallic robot legs which are perfectly detailed and are highly realistic to his appearance.

The back of the torso is also highly detailed with the back of Darth Maul's robes and has a hood print on the back as well which Darth Maul wears in Solo: A Star Wars Story and really carries on the excellent print of the all round minifigure.

Accessories:

The minifigure of course comes with his double bladed lightsaber, which the character is famous for having. The lightsaber itself comes with a single lightsaber hilt and two red lightsaber blades and really looks great when added to the minifigure. It is interesting to see whether the new double bladed lightsaber hilt piece used in the new Monkie Kid theme will eventually transfer over to the Lego Star Wars theme.

Verdict:

Overall this is a fantastic minifigure, one in which I did not think we would ever get in minifigure form but I am so glad we did. If you are a Lego Star Wars collector then this minifigure is a must have.
